Gucheungam is a comprehensive art space where history and tradition, tea and art, and people from all over the world come together.
History and tradition
Gucheungam is a historic hermitage founded during the Silla Dynasty, destroyed during the Imjin War, and rebuilt in 1647 (the 25th year of King Injo).
It is famous for its pillars made from natural quince wood and preserves architecture in its natural state.
Tea and Art
We manage a wild tea mountain with a thousand-year history, established before King Seong of Baekje founded Hwaeomsa Temple.
The most natural tea created by Venerable Deokje and the practitioners has become a work of art harmonizing with the lives of the practitioners .
The World of Gucheongam
Young adults from around the world are gathering at traditional Korean temples to stay, serve together, and learn about the culture.
